Introduction
The official protocol of the STDW Wiki. This protocol should be followed by everyone using and contributing to the wiki. If you wish to help and make articles or edit, you will have to follow these rules.
Accounts
- Account registration in order to create and edit pages to the STDW Wiki is required.
- Only one account is allowed per member.
Editing Protocol
- The STDW staff reserves the right to edit any part of the STDW Wiki including articles, talk pages, categories and so on.
- Articles may be locked by the STDW staff in order to prevent further editing or vandalism. A Sysop (Administrator) will often leave a message saying why the article was locked and if it's going to be opened any time in the future.
- A member can create however many articles he/she may wish that are useful and relevant to the STDW Wiki. One may create an article about their character, their ships and even one NPC characters which exist in STDW.
- Articles which relate to Real Life events are typically not appropriate. The STDW Wiki is predominantly written as an IC information resource, everything written here is either RP or STDW related information.
- You should refrain from completely removing information from an article unless it is something that is obviously false.
- Members are responsible for their own pages, and users may not edit someone else's character page without their permission.
- The content you put in your article is your decision alone, and it must be made by you.
- If you create an article about your STDW character, the Article's name must be spelled the same way as the character's name, no exceptions.
- Articles should not be created to insult someone or debate on a personal matter. These issues can be handled in a Private Message or in the article's talk page.
Talk Pages
- One may edit his talk page to include whatever he wishes such as working list, personal notes or reminders and everything else he feels important to note. He/she should bear in mind that information is visible for all to see.
- Talk Pages with past discussions in them may not be deleted or cleaned. Such conversations may be useful for future reference.
- Harassment via the wiki is prohibited.
- A person must identify himself by adding his signature after posting in any Talk page. The add signature image looks like this http://en.wikipedia.org/skins-1.5/common/images/button_sig.png.
Spam Control (For SysOps only)
In order to effectively halt spam entirely on the wiki for a while certain things must be done. If there is another attack in the future you are not to delete the spam page instead:
- Edit the page and erase its content
- Lock the page to SysOp level
- Block the spam-bot's IP address.
Categories
- Categories are used to organize articles better. All pages are highly encouraged to be categorized. You should refrain from creating irrelevant categories, however.
- Reorganizing articles into different categories is not allowed unless given permission from the STDW staff. Everything is ordered in the best way so you can enjoy a better way of navigation through pages. If you have a suggestion to make please contact the STDW team.
Content of Pages
- Obscene content, offensive material, and ridiculously-unneeded information is not permitted and will be removed from articles and talk pages without notice.
- Remember that this wiki is available to everyone. Therefore, you should try not to divulge any sort of 'secret' in-game information that isn't for public viewing.
Images
- Although uploading images is enabled, linking to offensive or copyrighted images is not allowed.
The Above rules will be enforced on all users and articles, be aware to your actions.
For all questions please contact any of the STDW staff members. The rules above may be changed and edited at any time, please keep an eye on this article.
